The Boone Conservancy’s Executive Director receives* John Russell Groves Citizens Laureate Award

The Boone Conservancy’s Executive Director was selected by AIA Kentucky to receive the John Russell Groves Citizens Laureate Award. The award is given to “honor an individual and advocate who has consistently supported and encouraged the values of quality architecture in their community through leadership, service and dedication to a better living environment.” The award recognizes individuals whose efforts reinforce AIA Kentucky’s mission to promote good design, quality architecture and/or vibrant communities in Kentucky. Receiving the award is the culmination of The Boone Conservancy’s collaboration with AIA Northern Kentucky Chapter in the “Pit to Park” project undertaken as the chapter’s AIA 150 legacy project. The Award was presented at the AIA Ohio Valley Region Convention at a ceremony at The Paul Brown Stadium in downtown Cincinnati on October 2, 2009.

The Boone Conservancy Celebrates Ten Years

The Boone Conservancy celebrated ten years at its primary yearly fundraiser held this fall in the Racing Club Room at Turfway Park. The event was a great success thanks to numerous dedicated Conservancy members, friends and loyal supporters. Money was raised for the construction of a shelter at The Conservancy Park At Belleview. The shelter will be built as part of a collaborative effort with the American Institute of Architects, Kentucky Chapter. GBBN Architects of Cincinnati will design and supervise the shelter project.

Guest Speaker, Meme Runyon of River Fields in Louisville, addressed the audience, highlighting the importance of community conservation efforts across the state.

Food and beverage was provided courtesy of Ziegler and Schneider, P.S.C. and The Bank of Kentucky. Guests enjoyed the silent auction which included Tom Gaither prints, watercolor by Betsy Scheben and a weekend get-away in Gatlinburg. The venue provided a beautiful view of the track and live racing.
